The Psychology for a Sustainable Future Network (PSF) is a project of the Center for Earth Leadership. It is composed of individuals with an interest in the connection between mental health, sustainability, and the environment.
Mission:
PSF will (1) help increase awareness
within psychology-related professions about environmental issues, such as
ecological degradation and consumer culture, and their impact on clients
and the larger society and (2) use research and psychological
understandings and techniques to promote sustainability and wellness.
Current Initiatives:
Committee for a Commercial-Free Childhood, to raise public awareness of the commercialization of childhood.
Green Minds, an informal monthly reading group that discusses articles relating to Ecopsychology, Environmental Psychology, and Conservation Psychology.
Ethics Task Force, to foster a dialog about the ethical roles of psychologists and other mental health professionals in environmental issues and mental and physical health.
Consultation, to provide psychological perspectives to individuals and groups working on issues related to sustainability, ecology, and conservation.
Past Events:
Psychology-Ecology-Sustainability Conference. A national conference was held at Lewis and Clark College on June 8-10, 2007 to explore the critical intersection between psychology, ecology, and sustainability.
