OLSF Steering Committee. OLSF is guided by a steering committee of 10 lawyers: Jas Adams, Robin Collin, Steve Cook, David Ellis, Diane Henkels, Roy Pulvers, Jeff Rogers, Dick Roy, Thane Tienson, and Scott Wyse.
Background on OLSF.
In early 2006, Oregon lawyer Dick Roy hosted three lunch
groups for a total of 43 lawyers to address the following questions:
1. How is the legal profession currently involved in the
sustainability movement?
2. In dealing with a holistic issue like sustainability, is the profession limited by the “boxes” of law that interface with environmental issues? Is the profession limited by the perceived conflict between business development generally and the goal of sustainability?
3. Is there an expanded role for the profession in the
sustainability movement?
4. Is there a place for a new initiative, Lawyers for a Sustainable
Future, or some similar umbrella?
The consensus of each lunch group was “yes” to all four
questions. From the three lunch groups
a founding steering committee was formed.
Relationship with other organizations. OLSF is an independent nonprofit
organization. It maintains a working
relationship with the Oregon State Bar, the three Oregon law schools, and
several sections of OSB.
