The Practice of Hope

Topics covered in this interactive workshop include the meaning of hope, its interface with optimism and pessimism, an overview of the practice of hope, the practice of hope as an intentional act, guiding principles for the practice, specific daily practices, and alignment.

Living in a society where “bad news” seems so prevalent, the notion of hope is authentic hope for the earth possible?  Topics covered in this interactive workshop include the meaning of hope, its interface with optimism and pessimism, an overview of the practice of hope, the practice of hope as an intentional act, guiding principles for the practice, specific daily practices, and alignment.

This 3-hour workshop is grounded on three principles:

  •  Hope must be intentional.
  •  Hope is one’s highest vision of the possible.
  •  Authentic hope cannot be based on denial.

 
Presenters:  Dick and Jeanne Roy, co-founders of the Center for Earth Leadership, the Northwest Earth Institute, and the Oregon Natural Step Network.  They will be assisted by other instructors.
